sweet sommers girls #1

last week as i was in the finishing poses of a power yoga session i had cleared my mind and was simply being. with each breath in and out i felt more and more relaxed whilst feeling so alive it was almost like my whole body was humming. it was in the midst of this that one thought scrolled across my mind: "i only have 8 full weeks until squam. there are 8 other girls in my cabin. i should do a giveaway a week showcasing my cabin mates: the sommers 81 girls." and so it is with awesome excitment that i present to you our first sommers giveaway put on by the energetic and soul FULL darlene, who happens to be celebrating her SIXTH blogging anniversary this thursday. she's put together such a super value meal of deal with both a 5x7 print of "song by the sea" as well as a chocker style necklace made of crystals and glass beads inspired by the summer breeze of an ocean dream. did i mention that dar is a poet too?

darlene can also be found in her hippyurban shop or her shared polaroid girls shop. she is a classic innovator running her own photography business with her husband as well as organizing all types of yummy photography collaborations. she is never without her canon, her holga, a smathering of polaroids, or ink. take a peek around her space and soak up her multi-talented goodness.

to enter to win these two awesome prizes please leave a comment on what your favorite summer memory is, in 140 characters or less. ;-D comments will be closed on thursday, july 23rd, at 11:59 pm MST and the winner will be announced on friday. namaste friends.

bridging the gap

*breathing out in a long exhale*
i've been contemplating as of late how easy it is to focus on one area of life and feel like we've got it covered, only to realize we've been neglecting something equally as important.
as with many poses in yoga, bridge displays this point.
as you lift your hips and draw your shoulder blades together your knees automatically fall out.
and so you push your knees back together,
breathing so fully,
pushing your hands against eachother.
only to realize that your hips have fallen again.
and so it is only with constant correction that we begin to fully embrace the bridge.
