dance night

dance recital night, can i get a club WOO, WOO!

i love how earnest a dancer E is. she's the short one with piggy tails. ;-D

the video of F tumbling is over EIGHT minutes long. so i'm going to spare you. just know that he was a little tamer than last year, but still refuses to do a cartwheels because it is far too much fun to let his teacher flip him over.

it's fun to see them progressing and happy and trusting and confident! neither of them balked at the massive audience before them.

dance, dance, my kiddie kats!

Tuesday night was our fabulous, giggle-inducing dance/tumbing recital. after sitting in a dark, sweaty room with 300 other gloating parents for more than an hour, it was finally our kids's turn to dazzle the audience.

F has been taking tumbing for about 6 months, but he's such a goof you'd never really know it. they line all the kids up in a sitting train and then they take turns doing sommersaults, straddle rolls, hand stands, and cartwheels. so instead of staying in the train he scooted next to the front of the line and spun on his bum in circles until it was his turn. i don't think that his classmates were very happy with him. and when it came time for him to do the cartwheels, he just stands there and giggles, making the teacher flip him over and do all of the work each time.

a little post-performance chocolate love spread all over his face

next was E. we've been out of town for a lot of her recent classes so i was nervous that she wouldn't remember her routine. but darn it all, she's the star of her class! i have a hard time remembering though that she's the oldest kid in the class, simply because she's the shortest there... even though she's about 2 years older than most of the other girls.

see her, third from the left, smaller than even the 3 year old's in her class. she's standing next to the only other 5 year old. ;-D

and G hung in there through the whole performance with only one mishap:apparently the diaper was just too much to handle with the heat

how would you like to be handed a diaper by a 1 1/2 year old baby, in the dark, in the middle of a performance?

i am beginning to think that i post to many pictures. what do you think?

hope your weekends are filled with demolition derbies, babies, and fantastic smells!

Yesterday I let F take a nap with me because he hasn’t been napping lately, but I could tell that he was so tired. Since I don’t often get this opportunity I rolled over to him and told him what a good boy he was, he replied, “you’re a good girl!” Then I kissed him on his face to which he replied, “Get out of my face mom! I want sleepy!” I’m so happy that he can finally speak his mind, even if it’s not what I expect him to say!

For family home evening last night we finally made cupcakes for E's 5th birthday and we talked about her birth and our emotions concerning it. While we were making cupcakes I apologized to her for not having a friend party, explaining that we were all too sick to have had people over. She said, “It’s ok Mom. My family is most important! I LOVE my family!!!” She grabbed F and I with a hug and pulled us in for a kiss. I told her what a good girl she was for learning how important her family is even when she’s very young. I told her that she would have to try hard to remember what she had just said when she was a teenager. She replied, “Mom, will you remind me?” Haha! I told her that she’ll have to remind herself because some teenagers don’t really like to listen to their mommies. She suggested that we write it down. So here we are! It wasn’t my idea, although it was a very proud mommy moment. I love my kids!!!

Although E's birthday day was a funny one. She had said from the beginning that she wanted a “rock star” party with 150 of her little friends upstairs. Where she gets this idea from I’ll never truly understand. As the day progressed she got to open her cards and she received a little rose necklace from Grandma H. She instantly changed her demeanor. Suddenly she wanted to go to dinner AND dancing at a “quiet, adult restaurant.” Well, I called around and checked online to find that there were no dinner and dancing venues for families. We agreed on going to TGIFriday’s and finding a place to dance there. While we ate I would ask her if she was ready to dance, she would reply, “After I finish my food and open my second gift, THEN I will dance. So finally as we were getting ready to go “La Bamba” came on and she and Freeman got up and danced together next to our table. Maybe it wasn’t exactly what she had wanted, but she did get dinner and dancing!
