saturday was a special day
it's the day i ran my first 5...k
three miles really isn't the big of a deal, i run more than that regularly at the gym. however, running outside on pavement, in janu-freakin-ary... well, that's just special.
the most awesome part of doing the race was my kids reaction to it. i had just planned on driving down with britt and leaving my family at home. but when my kids found out what i was doing, they wanted to be there! with signs! and t-shirts! and a giant trophy that looks like mama!
in the end a sign made by my mother was sufficient.
running with britt was a real treat too. when we approached a steep downward hill i suggested that we run for it, she suggested rolling down it instead... i probably should have listened to her suggestion, for as we jogged down that hill i felt my bladder slowly releasing. empathetic britt offered to wet herself so that we could match. luckily the damage was minimal.
after crossing the finish line E presented me with a medal of honor. she was genuinely surprised that we hadn't won the race, such is her faith in me. 
i was very happy with my results. in the end i crossed the finish line and i didn't even throw up or pass out.
