derbies, teeth, and tears

I haven’t told any good derby stories , mostly because we hadn’t attended any until recently. I had heard reports that it may rain the evening we planned to attend, but brushed it off with the thought that a sprinkle would actually be a welcome break to the heat of summer. Utah is a desert, when we get rain in the summer it doesn’t usually last more than a few moments. This said, I was in no way prepared for the downpour we received while sitting on metal bleachers above a dirt and woodchip floor. Before the wrecking could even begin, we were drenched. The Hubs and I leaned forward covering our huddling children like chicks under a hen. Five HOURS later I was still wet. People were nice enough to offer us blankets and extra shirts to keep the baby dry. My SIL is gorgeous even wet.
Right before the final heat of the derby The Hubs was holding Harmony and E was playing with her—mostly getting in her face and taunting her. With lightening speed and deadly accuracy H smacked her hand down E’s face and PLUCKED out one of her loose teeth, the less loose of the two. The Hubs and I couldn’t even believe it had happened, I still giggle whenever I think about it.At first E just cried and cried—I’m sure it hurt and there was a good amount of blood, but there was mostly just the shock of what had just happened. The baby had pulled her tooth out, this was inconceivable! Once the bleeding stopped she calmed down. And as soon as she got a chance to see herself in the mirror she was extremely happy with the situation.About a week after this happened I noticed that both of her lower permanent teeth were already growing in, so I encouraged her to pull the tooth that was weakly hanging on by a thread. She didn’t want to do it and again cried a lot, but ultimately pulled it on her own. She’s so proud of her new smile.

she ripped out her sisters tooth with her bare hands?!! If that's not a call to dentistry, I don't know what is.

Oh goodness, that Harmony should definitely be the youngest: able to take care of herself against all would-be aggressors.

I love derbies; wish we had them more than once a year here. You lucky momma you!

Oh, Girlfriend. The teeth woes only get worse. Ughhh. I'm wishing all I had to do was get some loose teeth out of Austins mouth.

Jenica! Your kids are so dang cute!

I Say if youre going to go tanning in a booth, always cover your face. and don't go for long periods of time. Like go for 8 min or so. It can be really good for the winter to keep you feeling good. Just remember to do it in moderation. Because skin cancer can be brutal!
