trip of bridges: days 4 & 5

DAY FOUR:

well, we technically drove to wenatchee on the evening of day three, but we got in really late so that can't possibly count, right? some of our very bestest friends, jamey and lara, moved to wenatchee a year ago and as soon as they decided to move my hubs decided that we would need to take THIS very vacation so that we could go and visit them. we were all so giddy to see one another that our conversations never seemed to completely end; a continuous stream of thoughts, opinions, and love. this trip really taught me how much i miss and love the dear ones in our lives. why can't we all just live and work closer to one another???
their dogs, clyde and bella, were the sweetest dogs in the world; perfectly gentle with our kids. they even wanted to play fetch with harmony!
jamey and lara treated us like royalty, thinking of every detail to make our stay a memorable one. thank you so much!!!
so anywho, enough with the gushing! on the morning of day four we got ready and went with lara to leavenworth, which is a totally kitschy bavarian town. they had all sorts of cute shops and restaurants. we of course stopped in for some belgian chocolate.
the kids were restless so we, like every other parent there, paid $2 a kid for them to go through a tube filled with air. we're suckers, i know! but it kept them happy until we could get lunch.

we stopped and had some brauts at a little outdoor restaurant. the weather cooperated and we had a really great time. get used to that face the F is pulling, nearly every picture we took on the trip has him looking just like this:

that evening we came home and had steaks and more conversation. it was nice to be in just one place with the people that we love, we even got the kids to bed early!

DAY 5: Mother's Day
my special little E drew this fantastic picture for my Moth's Day. ;-D lara framed it for us.

lara treated me to a really great breakfast and then we went to church, which was a slight fiasco. we sat on a pew between two sets of people, but the kids weren't really digging it. so i was in and out, stepping over strangers, crashing people with my diaper bag, about 5 times. they should have just installed a rotating door.

jamey made sure to take the kids out for motorcycle rides while the hubs and i packed up that afternoon.
and then we made the gorgeous trip out to seattle, passing over snow covered mountain-sides and driving through the clouds. it was incredible!

I love car trips. And I love the drive from the eastern side of the Cascade mountains to the western side. Can't wait to see your next installment.
