trip of many bridges: days 1, 2 & 3

we've been in the land of many bridges. twelve days of road-tripping and i can't say i'm actually happy to be back. i was nervous that we would come home hating each other. we had our melt-downs, our disagreements, we had our asthma attacks... but no more than we would have had if we'd just stayed home. we saw friends and family, our bellies were filled with delicious foods, we splashed in the ocean, we took a ferry ride, we flew kites, we got to know one another better, we watched movies, we napped without guilt, we saw men throw fishes at each other... seriously, why haven't we done this before?

*sigh* sweet family bliss

as i try to tackle the huge task of telling all you lovelies about our travels i've decided to break the trip into a section of days. ENJOY!

DAY ONE:
about 2 hours into the trip, and after the first movie was over, G started freaking. screaming, crying, yelling, etc. when the suggestion was made that she may just need a nap, her reply came with FORCE, "NO NAP, I NOT TIRED!!!"

this pic was taken 30 SECONDS later:

the first night was spent in boise, idaho. we thought, naively, that the kids could all just share a bed... that silly idea lasted appx 2 minutes. then G got demoted.DAY two:

in the morning we drove out to weiser to visit with grandparents. isn't my grandpa the cutest?

we had a really great visit and went out to pizza for lunch. weiser is known for it's international fiddle festival, which i've never even been to. it was a short visit, but a wonderful chance to talk. after weiser we backtracked to this amazing monument:we bought some rocks and fossils and un-cracked geode's for upcoming science lessons. this adorable little old lady made that dinosaur herself.

we continued on our voyage and ended in the tri-cities area of washington (kennewick, richland, pasco) i was so, so, so excited to visit with reba and her so sweet family. i'm sad they live so far away. i would play with them every day if i could.

the kids all played so nicely, despite little moira's pneumonia. poor reba even got barfed on from a baby cough gone bad. but the conversation was wonderful. thanks guys for having us over even with a sick baby! and the food was great! *sniff* i really miss them. aren't those polka dot walls adorable?DAY THREE: we loved the bridges of the tri-cities and drove them over and over and over and over. this is probably one of my FAVE pics of the whole trip. yup, those are MY kids, in all their glory.

in the evening we had dinner with john's auntie marlene and her whole family. it was fun to laugh and play. just watch out for cooper's pinch!
i'll also be posting more pics in my flickr set.

stay tuned...

Gorgeous! Your kids make me smile, Jenica. Our parallels are so fun to observe through your blog. Two mommas, two different states... But both living some of the same joys.

I'm so happy your trip was wonderful!
