i really heart mondays

e asked me yesterday why so many people love friday's. i replied that it's because they look forward to the weekend, to a few days off from work. then she asked me what day i like best, and i replied that i love mondays because we have our family night on mondays. she decided that saturdays were best because that means daddy is home ALL DAY long!

we had a particularly fun and happy family night last night. we based it off of this article. we read the article and talked about how we interact as a family, whether we are building one another up or tearing one another down. i especially loved the closing quote:

“None of us need one more person … pointing out where we have failed or fallen short. … What each of us does need is family … who believe in us, and who believe we’re trying to do the best we can.”
Elder Marvin J. Ashton

i drew up some mason jars that we colored and labeled our Love Jars, then we took turns writing down what we love about each person. i would have loved to have just given each child a mason jar and then put little pieces of paper in them... but glass jars and kids??? yeah, didn't add up to me either!

i especially love the kids response to what they love about me: "she looks like e, dances, and is kind", "i feel like i love her in my heart", and g's happy, "uhhhhh, MAMA!!!" thank you very much!then we called the hubs's grandpa to sing happy birthday and we called my grandma (our weekly ritual) to sing her a primary song, this week was *popcorn popping.*

i just can't help but love mondays!

I LOVE the idea! I love it so much I want to somehow use the concept on my primary kids...but then again they will probably just draw monsters in the jar...but I will definitely use it on someone!

Tucking this idea away for later! Right now, our FHE's last about 10 mintues if we're lucky.

Last night we took a picture of Thomas S. Monson out of the Friend and talked about him being the new prophet. Jackson couldn't get past the fact that his name is Thomas S. Monson and NOT Thomas The Train.

It's sinking in. Slowly. :)
