i've always thought that autumn was my favorite season. i love the smell of the air as leaves descend upon us like gentle doves. i love cuddling up in a funky sweater, drinking cocoa or cider, watching the world around me slow down a bit. the act of thanksgiving, bringing everyone together in gratitude; that's what life should be like all the time right?
but i can't be fooled; i know what's coming next. her icy hands are already reaching out to take me under.
i'm still feeling joyous and enjoying every moment of my life right now. but i am... *concerned* about how things will unfold when the flakes begin to fall. when the kids can't just go play outside when we're tired of staring at one another. when we're all sick again.
so, things i'm grateful for right now:
1) painting
here on thursday
2) my hammock still swaying in the 80 degree weather we're having
3) my trampoline
4) ice cream, in all it's varities
5) good friends across the world that keep me going.
thank you.

Dear Mama Goddess Jenica,
I too love autumn. Do not get much of it here in Florida.
And as much as I love what autumn brings I place no SHOULDs so I can enjoy the gifts of all the seasons and all the gratefulness for all Mama Earth shares with me.
As for winter, "her icy hands already reaching out to take me under" - perhaps she has other gifts to share with you if you embrace her - if you release your concern and let life unfold in her own time.
For now, I love what you are grateful for.
I too am going to jump into my hammock and watch the sun rise as the weather shifts.
Thanks for your sharing.
Wishing you,
Peace & Love, Just Because,
Goddess Diana
I'm so impressed with your creativity. I know it will continue even as the air gets colder. one day at a time, right?
Good luck in provo, Jenica. I'm going to try to make it down that way to see it.
Hope to see you there!
Amy
Another plein air!!? You are a rock star! Can't wait to see what you produce for this one.
BTW, I just added the song I'm listening to here on my playlist, but I can't figure out how the hell to get the thing on my blog. HELP! Technical difficulties just piss me off.
Oh, I too LOVE the fall! Even though it is not the same here in Vegas (like, no beautiful leaves falling around me) I love it for the magnificent relief it brings from the oppressive heat of summer. It's not so much the icy hands of winter that make me recoil, but I do feel your pain. Nothing like the impending dread of a long season ahead. Maybe that's why it is good that we never know what trials are coming in our life. We would spend all of our time dreading the future instead of embracing each day! Anyway, enjoy the beauty of where you are...
lots of love to you and your family!
Yes, fall is around these here parts, but it only really feels like it's starting today, when it's drizzled a tad in the a.m. and more is scheduled. Time to close up our skylights!
i so love this time of year, the crisp freshness, the feeling of being so alive but like you i have one eye forward with trepidation waiting for the shoe to drop. did i say shoe? i meant snow snow snow, eep! :)
