my mom is a piano teacher. when the hubs and i got married one of the families that she taught piano to bought us that great, ugly cookie jar. to me it was instant love. to them, i'm actually pretty sure that they were making fun of the car we drove at the time: 1980 toyota carolla, spray painted lime green, with red fenders, and two white racing stripes over the driver's side...the hubs had also cut off the catalitic converter and rerouted the exhaust, making it the LOUDEST vehicle known to man. the exhaust came up through the hood right in front of the passenger side. and when it back-fired a huge pillar of FLAME and smoke blew up over the car.i'm in love with my little italian pasta holding man... i call him bernardo.
and i have one blue wall in my kitchen... but it's completely boring. so, no pic for you! i want to put up BRIGHTLY colored pics on it. it just hasn't happened yet.

my moments of magic from this weekend:
.:my kids SAT through church on sunday. there was no fighting, no potty-breaks. they just played quietly while mama drew skeletons for F and made paper airplanes (which they didn't even throw!)
.:on saturday evening all of the kids feel asleep in the car before 7 pm. g didn't wake up until 8 the next morning! she woke up chipper and happier than i have seen her in a long time. it also lead to one of the most mischevious days in history with her.
.:sale at old navy! after using my christmas gift certificates i paid $4.74 of my own money for a HUGE bag of clothes. i got H a sweater dress that cost less than $2! it was originally $20 something. oh yes, i was a happy camper.
.:e came with me to go shopping; we made a date of it. dates to her mean that we go to the gas station on our way home and get a treat to share. after 10 minutes of deliberation she decided upon a moon-pie. in took 10 minutes because when we got to the candy aisle, *things were NOT were they were supposed to go!* so e spent several minutes organizing their rows of candy and gum. i finally had to pull her aside and have her repeat after me, "i do not work at the kwiky-mart...it is not my job to clean up their messes...it is ok for stores to be messy... their disorganization does not effect me..." then we took a deep breath and settled into a moon-pie.

And to think - I almost broke Bernardo when I came to help you before H was born. Good thing he's pretty sturdy. :)
They sat quietly through church? Man, that's so awesome! That's hard for some adults!
I think I'm in love with your cookie jar. I want one! Or three...
I have the same mixer in the same color! Old Navy must also be having a sale everywhere because we hit ours up this weekend to check out sales too!
oh goodness...this peak into your beautiful kitchen makes me want to hop on a plane and come cook dinner with you this afternoon.
