after the kids fall asleep i'm left with choices.
i could clean the house, fold laundry, read, watch a movie, edit pics, write, or bug my husband. painting honestly doesn't even enter my mind because i have this huge block named resistance. john, knowing this, and wanting to get some of his own work done, prodded me, "why don't you paint tonight?" hrmmmm, why don't i paint tonight? so i do what i do. gather my paints, paper, brushes, scrapers, and then start flipping through my canvases. i have no less than 8 paintings in process at a time so do i choose to work on one of these? or do i tackle a fresh canvas? on this night i took one of the dump canvases, one that i throw my extra paint on until it becomes something, and in my mind i saw a happy mug sitting on a tiny table with swirls of heat and love coming out of it. an hour later it was realized. why don't i paint tonight?

]]>on our last night of beach time we gathered to take a large group picture. while the sun was setting, the light glowed on, and i had a chance to capture a few of my favorite people through my 50mm. i still have two more beauties to add to the set, but wanted to get things moving here.

last weekend was a wam bam of sessions and these guys were so much fun. with five girls and one awesome son these parents have earned their stripes. ;-D
this was also the first session that john was able to shoot with me on. the shot above is his.
